Ok, so everyone wants to know how to get those abs that everybody sees on the cover of all the fitness magazines. I do too! But the best abs I’ve ever seen are the functional ones. A ‘skinny’ person can have great looking abs but are they functional providing them with strength, support and a full range of motion or are they just a reflection of having no belly fat and great genetics?
Now, not all abs are created equal but we all equally have them. So, there is a big difference between having great looking abs vs. having great abs. If it’s great looking abs you want, severely restrict your diet to around 1100 calories a day and you’ll probably see clear evidence of a six pack beginning to show. Why? Because we all have abdominal muscles underneath our layers of ‘excess’. BUT, if you want great abs that give you support and strength, fluid motion, better workouts and an overall better feel of confidence when you look in the mirror working them into your workout through working multiple muscle groups is your ticket.
These simple exercises worked into your routine, whether you are doing a full body routine or are working upper body for two days and then lower body on another two days will not only help you build strong abdominal muscles but they are the by product will give you a stronger sense of accomplishment. I call it working the abdominal muscles from the inside out.
